If you’re a teacher-mom or homeschool parent who loves crafting things from scratch, here’s how you can create a similar Thanksgiving activity at home or in class — no printables needed!
1️⃣ Read a Thanksgiving book — I recommend Pete the Cat: The First Thanksgiving by James Dean. It’s a fun, groovy story that kids love and sets the mood perfectly for this activity.
2️⃣ Draw simple cat parts separately — head, body, and paws — so kids can color, cut, and assemble their own character.
3️⃣ Add a writing prompt like: “I am thankful for…” and have students complete the sentence.
4️⃣ Glue everything on construction paper to make a colorful keepsake.
5️⃣ Display their work on your classroom wall, bulletin board, or fridge — instant Thanksgiving décor made by little hands!
