Collaborative Puzzle Activity for Classrooms

🧩 We All Fit Together – Collaborative Puzzle Piece Activity

You know that feeling when you walk into a classroom and it just feels welcoming? That’s the goal of this activity.

On day one, I ask students a simple question:
“How do you want to be treated this year — by your teacher and your classmates?”

They take a few moments to reflect, then write or draw their thoughts on a puzzle piece. We talk about how if that’s the way they want to be treated, it’s also how they should treat others. The puzzle becomes a kind of class contract — a visual commitment to kindness, respect, and empathy.

We piece the puzzle together into a giant class heart, showing that even though we’re all different, we belong here together.

Interactive Element

I like to keep the center of the heart as a rotating space. Each week, we write a word of the week inside — something we want to focus on, like “kindness” or “cooperation.”
